1 packet yeast
3 tbsp. sugar
11/3 cups warm water
3 tbsp. soft butter
1 tsp. Salt
¼ tsp. baking powder
1¾ cups all-purpose flour
1¾ cups whole-wheat flour
1 cup peeled, chopped apples
1 tbsp. cinnamon mixed with 1 tbsp. sugar


  1. Combine yeast, ½ tsp. sugar, and 1/3 cup water in a bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, put together remaining water, butter, remaining sugar, salt, and baking powder then mix.
  3. Stir in the all-purpose flour, then the yeast mixture with an electric mixer. Put the whole-wheat flour. Knead the dough hook for at least 10 minutes.
  4. Put the dough into an oiled bowl.
  5. Cover then rises in a warm place for at least 1 to 2 hours until doubled in bulk.
  6. Punch down dough, then form into a rectangle.
  7. Scatter the apples on the dough and dust with the cinnamon sugar.
  8. Roll into a cylinder and put in an oiled loaf pan. Cover and let it rise in a warm for 90 minutes until doubled in size.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F. Uncover bread and bake for 50 minutes.
